Salade Niçoise

A simple, colourful salad with origins in the city of Nice. It is probably one of the most notorious salads and numerous chefs serve this dish in their restaurants.

The following recipe couldn't be any simpler and quicker to make. It will only take you a few minutes to make. The salade niçoise is an effortless, colourful salad originating from the French city of Nice. It is probably one of the most popular salads and so many chefs have done their variations of this marvellous salad.

Originally, tomatoes, anchovies and olive oil were the three main ingredients of this salad. It was known as simple food for poor people. Eventually, people started adding other raw ingredients such as mixed leaves, spring onions and radish.

Ingrédients

  • mesclun
  • 1 grosse boîte de thon
  • 4-6 filets d'anchois
  • des tomates
  • quelques radis
  • 2 poivrons
  • 100gr de haricots verts
  • 2 œufs durs
  • 2 oignons nouveaux
  • olives noires (de Nice)
  • basilic
  • huile d'olive

Ingredients

  • mixed salad leaves
  • 1 large can of tuna
  • 4-6 anchovy fillets
  • some tomatoes
  • a few radishes 
  • 2 peppers
  • 100gr green beans
  • 2 hard boiled eggs
  • 2 spring onions
  • black olives (from Nice)
  • basil
  • olive oil

Méthode / Method

Lavez le mesclun. Lavez et couper les poivrons. Émincez les oignons. Lavez les tomates et ajoutez les, les olives, les oeufs durs, le thon et les anchois à la salade. Faites cuire les haricots verts et ajoutez-les à la salade. Pour finir, placez le tout dans une assiette. Versez de l'huile d'olive sur la salade.


 Wash the mixed salad leaves. Wash and cut the peppers. Slice the onions. Wash the tomatoes and add them, the olives, the hard boiled eggs, the tuna and the anchovies to the salad. Cook the green beans and add to the salad. Finally, place everything nicely on a plate. Drizzle some olive oil on the salad.
