I numeri ordinali

I numeri ordinali - a first lesson on ordinary numbers in Italian. Ciao e benvenuti di nuovo ad un'altra lezione d'italiano! I'm eager to share with you a new topic that should be interesting to know a little more about. In this lesson we're introducing i numeri ordinali (ordinal numbers). Now, who knows what ordinal numbers are? The name itself gives a good clue.

I numeri ordinali - numeri che mostrano ordine e posizione.

Alcuni esempi sono: primo, secondo, quinto...

Si usano anche con dei modi di dire come ad esempio:
- Essere al settimo cielo - essere molto felice (to be in 7th heaven)
- Essere il primo della classe - essere il più bravo della classe (be the number one in class)

As I've just explained in Italian, today's lesson is about ordinal numbers. These show the order or a position.

The following are some examples in English: first, fifth, tenth...

Unlike other languages, ordinal numbers in Italian change completely from the cardinal numbers and end in an -o if it's masculine and an -a if it's feminine. So let's try and follow better the note down here and then watch the YouTube clip I created for you to learn their pronunciation as well. Enjoy learning!

Now, practice what you just learnt. On the worksheet, you will find a word search and a translation exercise for you to practice. I hope you enjoy this new topic. Leave comments and any questions.
